Faye Wong may perform at Olympic charity event
Chinese pop diva Faye Wong may attend China Central Television's Olympic charity event, "You Are the Torch Holder," on January 10 in Beijing, her first public performance since her withdrawal last year.
The newspaper Chongqing Times reported on Sunday that the event, focused on the moving stories of Olympic torch bearers and the grand mission of the torch relay, is the most important charity event centered on Olympic torch holders since their selection.
According to the director of the event, Faye Wong has been invited to sing at the benefit. Because of the charity angle of the event, the performance doesn't signal Faye Wong's future return to the stage.
The pop diva has devoted herself to charity activities for the Smile Angel Foundation, also known as Yanran Angel Foundation, founded by Faye Wong and her actor husband Li Yapeng to help children with cleft palates.

Fans Jam-pack Liza Wang's Free Concert
A free concert by Big Sister Liza Wang Ming-Chun on Saturday caused a public disturbance in a Hong Kong residential area when some concertgoers were barred from entering the already full venue.
Wang, who was given the "Big Sister" moniker for her well-established acting and singing abilities, gave the free concert for 4,500 residents in the Tin Shui Wai area.
But the concert organizer mistakenly issued many more invitations than planned, according to local media. At least 400 invited fans were kept from entering the concert venue. When some of them became angry and demanded an explanation, police were called in to maintain order.
The crowds prevented guest performers Miriam Yeung and Denise Ho from arriving on time. Ho ascribed the audience overflow to Wang's popularity.
Wang, who learned about the situation after the show, told reporters that she did not expect her concert to cause such a stir and that the organizer was to blame.
